Shake ‘Em Up! Chris Fisher Crowned Inaugural NSW Compact Demolition Derby Champion!

The roar of engines, the crunch of metal, and the cheers of the crowd – January 18th, 2025, marked a monumental day for motorsport in New South Wales.

The brand-new Sydney International Speedway played host to history in the making as the Australian Demolition Derby Association (ADDA) staged the very first ever NSW (Compact) Demolition Derby Championship!
For fans of controlled chaos and adrenaline-pumping action, this event was a must-see. And it certainly didn’t disappoint.

From the moment the first cars rolled into the arena, it was clear this wasn’t your average Sunday drive. The atmosphere was electric, buzzing with anticipation for the brutal and fast-paced competition that was about to unfold.

The “Compact” designation meant we saw a different breed of machine taking to the dirt – smaller, nimbler vehicles ready to dish out and absorb some serious punishment. This added a unique dynamic to the traditional demolition derby format, emphasizing skillful driving and strategic hits over sheer size and brute force.

The lineup was stacked with talent, featuring representative level drivers from across NSW, all vying for the coveted title of inaugural champion. The level of competition was fierce, with drivers showcasing impressive car control and a clear determination to be the last one moving.

Throughout the Derby, we witnessed a symphony of destruction. Cars collided with thunderous impacts, sending debris flying and eliciting gasps and cheers from the enthusiastic spectators. Strategic blocks, daring ramming maneuvers, and the occasional spectacular spin-out kept everyone on the edge of their seats. The intensity never waned, with each driver giving it their all in a battle of attrition.

As the dust settled (literally and figuratively) on the final moments of the event, one name rose above the wreckage: Chris “Shake” Fisher. Displaying incredible skill, resilience, and a knack for delivering the decisive blows, Fisher navigated the carnage and emerged victorious.

The crowd erupted as he was crowned the inaugural ADDA NSW (Compact) Champion, etching his name into the history books of Australian demolition derby.

This landmark event at the Sydney International Speedway not only showcased the thrilling spectacle of compact demolition derby but also highlighted the growing popularity of this motorsport discipline in NSW.

The ADDA has clearly tapped into a passion for high-octane entertainment, and the success of this championship promises an exciting future for demolition derby in the state.
Congratulations to Chris “Shake” Fisher on his well-deserved win!

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for the ADDA NSW (Compact) Demolition Derby Championship and the continued growth of this exhilarating sport.

If you missed out on the action this time, be sure to keep an eye out for future ADDA events at the Sydney International Speedway – you won’t want to miss the next round of metal-mashing mayhem!
