Lawrie started his Demolition Derby career at Murray Bidge Speedway in the late 1970’s. A passionate competitor that’s career spanned 5 decades. Lawrie’s skill behind the wheel quickly brought the attention of other drivers, making him a household name in the South Australian circuit. Competing mostly at tracks throughout South Australia, Lawrie was a pioneer of the Sport and led the way for others to follow.
A wily competitor that build his cars to last! You would frequently find Lawrie battling it out at the end, often securing the win.
Although Lawrie was a fierce competitor on the track, he would never shy away from helping a fellow competitor. Lawrie encouraged many new faces into the Sport, including his two sons. In derbies with his boys, Lawrie was always happy to sacrifice himself to ensure their victories.
