Dave Ryan #24 NSW

1992-2013

Starting his career in 1992 at the Newcastle Motordrome. Dave instantly had a passion for the Sport, quickly becoming a household name in Demolition Derby.

When the Newcastle Motordrome closed in 2002, Dave kept the sport alive in the Hunter Valley. Creating new Demolition Derby events at local Agricultural Shows including: Cessnock, Maitland, Muswellbrook, Gloucester, Dungog, Stroud, Merriwa, Singleton, Newcastle and many more…

His promotion of the Sport is second only to his unparalleled skill behind the wheel of a HKTG Holden. There are few in the Sport that could stop Dave Ryan in a fresh Holden. With his own style of “Sharking” around the boundary of the field, Dave gained a reputation of being the man to beat.

After winning numerous Championships at local Ag Shows, Dave was selected to represent his Country in New Zealand. Becoming one of Australia’s first Representative Demolition Derby drivers.

Finally in 2013, Dave built his last Holden for battle. Muswellbrook Showground would be the last time this legend would bend some steel. Securing a 3rd Place finish after breaking his Holden in half and spitting a tailshaft.

Dave can still be found helping out at Newcastle Showground and still keeps his final broken tailshaft in the shed, as a reminder of the days of mud and glory….
